Applications are due by October 31, 2022.
This course will be tailored based on your organizational needs.
Course Overview
If you are planning on launching as a separate 501c3, it’s important that you work NOW to develop a strong Advisory Council or Committee. While you do not need a formal governing board as a sponsored project, thinking about the board your mission needs will be critical to your success.
President and CEO, Anne Olin and Director of Programs and Development, Amy Klein will serve as coaches to gauge where you are in your governance journey, and how to strengthen your use of Advisors. They will work with you to share best practices and to create a roadmap for strengthening your council. Topics to be covered will include:
- How to recruit advocates and volunteers
- The difference between Directors and Advisors
- Effectively using an Advisory Council
- Transitioning your Council to a formal Board
Course participants must be willing to invest up to 10 hours in the course.
Course Timeline
October 17: Application opens for submission
October 31: Applications due from Project
November 4: After review by CV, applicants are notified if they have been chosen to participate in the course.
November 7: Sessions begin – includes brief introduction meeting
Communications with participant organizations include:
- In-person and Zoom meetings
- Email communications
- A summary document including recommendations and next steps
