Jesus Santana
Community Organizer

As a Community Organizer for Charitable Ventures, Jesus focuses on the Community Building Initiative (CBI), in where he meets, informs, and supports the “Sullivan Community” in the city of Santa Ana,CA. The goal of CBI, is to capacitate residents with the necessary tools, skills, and resources by helping initiate a resident-led group that will work towards bringing about long-term positive change within the idetified community. In Jesus’ case, Sullivan En Accion (SEA) is the group of residents that he is currently supporting to address the housing issue of displacement. The goal of the “Sullivan Community Plan” is to: 1. Prevent Sullivan residents from being unfairly displaced and 2. Create long-term housing stability in the Sullivan Community, and hopefully throughout Santa Ana.

Prior to his current position, Jesus worked for Resilience Orange County (ROC), a youth organization that helped him understand the importance of investing in our youth and most vulnerable communities by engaging in transformative and restorative practices that promote healing. It is thanks to the mentors, teachings, and experiences that he has encountered in the last 9 years, back when ROC was still RAIZ and SABMOC, that Jesus, a sophomore in high school (2012), was able to develop a passion for youth/community work in Santa Ana.

Jesus has yet to complete his BA in Sociology, but once he’s able to, he intends to obtain his Bachelorettes in Sociology from Cal State, Fullerton; his Masters in Urban Planning, and is greatly considering going for his PhD. He has learned a very valuable lesson in life, that is patience. Understanding that everyone walks a different timeline, Jesus is truly grateful for all the youth/community experience that has helped him become the person he is today.
